WILL AIR CARGO VOLUME COME BACK TO NORMAL IN THE COMING MONTHS?

In July 2022, when the impact of the Covid pandemic reduced, we may expect that the trade volume would be back to normal, especially by air transport. However, this year is another surprise with a lower volume compared with the same period of 2021 globally (almost at the peak of pandemic time in Vietnam).

From the source of Clive Data Services, the figures show that 9% dropped in Jul 2022 even though the freight rates increased about 11% against 2021 or 121% against 2019. The global economy has been affected by some serious issues like the Russia-Ukrain war, and some fully incurable variants of viruses related to Covid-19. Those keep the consumption of families a low levels. This is clearer in the EU market than in Asia or US, but it still shares a similar trend.

We do expect the cargo to rise again in the usual peak season of the later half when the travel trend returns leading to many flight routes among countries. With a light sight of the busy flights, we hope air cargo demand will come back to normal soon.
