WHEN WILL THE OUTBREAK OF CONTAINER MOVEMENT DEMAND COME TO THE END?
This month last year, we saw the rocket freight rates in containers to US and then to other markets from Asia. The spreading of Covid pandemic causes lockdown situations everywhere, a lack of workers at ports, warehouses, factories, and truckers. Cargo almost went one way, and piled up on one end making a huge imbalance of container inventory and then causing a break in the supply chain. Even though the volume was not big, all of these make the freight rates have been the highest levels ever in history. One year passed, and the situation has improved over the world with better health care, and a lot of adjustments in the operation of factories, so will the outbreak of container transportation demand come to the end?
From the reports of VPA – Vietnam Port Association in the first half of 2022, we see a bit stable at =/-2% in 2nd Quarter (Apr 1,683,138 teus, May 1,711,599 teus, and Jun 1,702,528 teus).
However, now and there, the pandemic has not been fully controlled and some variants of the viruses keep developing, so preventive actions of countries are also different. We – Voltrans Logistics would suggest customers hope for the best, but still be cautious and prepare well with proper solutions when now have more information.
