In Vietnam, we have an old saying that “difficulty reveals wisdom”. We have seen a lot of improvement in logistics since it had introduced in the early ’90s and now after the Covid-19 crisis, the technology has been highlighted in several aspects of the economy, including logistics. Companies have been forced to invest in the application of technology and innovation to survive and improve their competitiveness.

We have seen digitalization applied in logistics 4.0 (focused on using the information to improve processes and operations throughout the value chain ) with IT cloud, Big Data, automatic warehouse with robots, bar codes, RFID, etc to speed up the movement of goods and improve productivity.

However, now, it seems not enough. The new trend is Logistics 5.0 where AI (Artificial Intelligence) is involved deep in the field to integrate human beings with robots to enhance the efficiency of the supply chain.

In the future, we will see the combination of smart devices, artificial intelligence, GPS, RFID, etc leading to an unprecedented reduction in time, costs, and errors, paving the way for the new horizon offered by Logistics 5.0
If Vietnam wants to catch up with this trend, we should start right now.
