HOW DO 3PLS CATCH UP WITH THE OPPORTUNITY WHEN VIETNAM BECOMES A NEW LOGISTICS HUB IN THE REGION?

In the Vietnam Logistics Forum 2022 on 26th Nov, many officers and logistics experts pointed out opportunities and challenges for Vietnam to be a new regional logistics hub for sea, air, land, and rail transportation. Currently, Vietnam ranks 11th in newly 50 logistics markets as reported in Agility 2022. They also pointed out the important roles of governmental policies, infrastructure, and human resources to make the move.

Since 1990, Vietnam has gradually entered world trade from the planned economy platform. The logistics services and workforces have been changed a lot to meet the increasing demand of customers up to international standards. However, as mentioned in the forum, there was more than 53% of logistics companies lack professional staff, and 30% needed to be re-trained. In logistics, except for some specialized cargo handling equipment, the most expensive investment are in human resources and information systems.
