CAI MEP DEEP WATER CHANNEL WELCOMES HIGH DRAFT VESSELS
On 7th Aug, TCTT welcomed vessel – Cosco Shipping Rose of the COSCO/OOCL joined operating service – AWE6 connecting Cai Mep, Vietnam with US Westcoast destinations. This has been the first time TCTT received such a deep draft 15.8m vessel.
With the maintenance of Cai Mep channel up to 15.5m beside the tide range, the ports in this area could receive big vessels up to 160,000 DWT or 14,000 teu vessels or more. We hope the Vinamarine and Vung Tau Port Authorities help to maintain the channel of Cai Mep Thi Vai regularly for stabilizing the depth to get more similar services to the area for Vietnam import/ export trading worldwide.
Currently, there are few ports in the area that can handle big vessels of this size – SSIT, CMIT, Gemalink, and TCTT.
