VIETNAM IN TOP 10 EMERGING MARKETS LOGISTICS INDEX: HAPPY OR WORRY?

Recently, Vietnam appeared as one of the top 10 Emerging Markets Logistics Index 2023 in the report of Agility – a top international big freight forwarding and logistics provider.  Agility ranked 50 economies based on four factors [ 1. Domestic logistics opportunities, 2. International logistics opportunities,3. Digital readiness, and 4. Business fundamentals], which make them attractive to logistics providers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, air cargo carriers, and distributors.  

This is not a big surprise, especially after the three years of covid pandemic.  Vietnam appeared as a strange phenomenon against other markets, especially in Asia. We have stood strong during the heavy storm swept by Covid-19 and are recognized as a reliable backup place in logistics for many countries in the region. Vietnam is one of the top alternative options for global factories, and retailers to diversify their supply and reduce the influence of China.  However, this recognition also brings back huge challenges in these four factors regarding high-quality human resources, sea/land/air infrastructures, digitalization, and quality products/business standards to keep the business long.
